What Numerly is
Numerly is a collection of over 1,800 visual math and logic puzzles, organised into nine themed worlds and hundreds of small packs. Every puzzle is a figure — a ring of numbers, a star, a grid, an hourglass — with one value missing and exactly one rule that explains the rest. You work out the rule, then use it to fill the gap. There is no time pressure outside the optional daily challenge, no penalty for a wrong answer, and no account required to play.
The puzzles were drawn rather than generated from a template, which is why the artwork looks like cut paper floating in space. We wanted something that felt closer to a printed puzzle book than a quiz app, because printed puzzle books are what made most of us like this stuff in the first place.
Who it is for
Most of our players are school and college students preparing for exams with an aptitude or quantitative section, where the real skill is recognising a pattern quickly rather than grinding through long calculations. The same puzzles work well for teachers who need a five-minute warm-up, for parents looking for screen time that is not entirely wasted, and for adults who just enjoy a small daily brain workout.
Difficulty runs from single-digit addition in the first Number Circles pack to two-step, mixed-operation Hourglass puzzles at the end. You can start anywhere, and packs unlock as you clear the ones before them so the ramp stays honest.
How we design puzzles
Three rules govern every puzzle we ship. First, one rule per figure: if two different rules produce two different valid answers, the puzzle is broken and we cut it. Second, the rule has to be provable from the visible numbers before you use it on the blank — you should never have to guess and check. Third, no two consecutive puzzles use the same design family, so a pack never turns into the same puzzle eight times with different digits.
Every puzzle also carries a hint that nudges you toward the class of rule without handing over the answer, and a full explanation you can reveal if you would rather learn the method than stare at it. Using a hint costs coins, which you earn by solving — that is the only economy in the app.
Who builds it
Numerly is made by a very small independent team in India. We write the puzzles, draw the artwork, run the site, and answer the support mail ourselves. Printable PDF packs and coin purchases are what keep it funded; payments are handled by Paddle as merchant of record, and there is a 30-day refund policy on everything.
